Weather-Beaten

The corpse in the mirror is unknown.
Deep down the cavernous river rages with frustration.
Torment raging through veins as clenched fists tremble.
Thunder bellows forth in silent screams.
Tombstone teeth reading a eulogy of failure
A painted mask of lifeless eyes and a masquerade smile.
The companionship of a haunted shadow leads.
Loved ones flutter away on the calling of bats' wings.
Tears of the innocent are shed for the want of peace.
Bellowing contention stampedes through the halls.
Bones aching with fatigue from fragile grounding.
Cold winter winds in a beating heart.
Turn back the pendulum's swinging reach.
Silhouettes of memories fading like forgotten epitaphs.
Commitments fraying like the hangman's nose.
The wayward soul among the congregation
Read this parchment-like a warning prayer.
Can redemption come to the monster in the quenching sun?
